Yep, that's right, purple podded peas!
One of the many interesting varieties of heirloom seeds I got this year included purple podded peas. I started them in the hothouse so they got an early start and now I am able to enjoy peas in May, when we usually start planting them.
The purple peas have beautiful purple flowers that die off and turn blue, which makes for some amazing contrast in photos.
I personally love plants that look nice and are edible. I wanted to plant sweet peas but the purple peas look almost identical just with larger flowers.
Although they are not as good as sugar snap peas when young, (due to there harder shell) the peas themselves are nice and sweet.
I hope to have many varieties of plants in a range of colors, to be able to have a beautiful and edible landscape. Since there are many types of plants edible or otherwise, there is always room for improvement and of course more plants, which makes gardening a never ending joy.
