It looks like the sun and rain have helped to prepare the newly planted pasture areas just in time!
'Faith', our Shetland, 'bagged up' (her udder was full and protruding) and we knew we'd have a week, at best, to prep for the lambs to come. She was bred to 'Buddy' the friendliest black Finn ram you'll ever meet. He loves to run up and get snuggles and he will lean into you like a dog to keep those scratches and pets coming!
Look at the beautiful ram lamb-lings they gave us! Praise the Lord for these happy, healthy babies that will share chocolate, black and white fine wools for our future creations! Not only are they adorable, but they are confident and friendly already!
Is there a difference between ewes and rams in friendliness? The ewes we've had in the past were not as friendly at first - more skittish, staying with mom. Is it the ram's genetics? Whatever the combination - we count our blessing and are very thankful for these gorgeous gifts~AND the quality pasture 'salad' to offer mom for her rich supply of colostrum and milk! Our Heritage pigs prepared the soil and helped to eliminate much of our butter cup problem for this lambing pasture.

These 'first born' are a poignant reminder of the lambs employed by God, in His Word, as a similitude of Christ's sacrifice years before during Passover, which began just days ago. I encourage you to read for yourself and learn how the true 'spotless lamb' ~ Jesus Christ~ was sacrificed to save you from the burden of just retribution for your sins in life. His grace is extended...
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Ex 12:13-14
