She offered to teach me too! So I have learned to knit socks!
We are going to be offering her a dye class in exchange...I'm happy to learn something new, but I have ripped them out and started over many times.
Our friend took a class on how to make two socks at once with 'Judy's magic cast on' (toe up socks)

Our friend Sharon gave me another job! This yarn is 100%Merino and it turned out fantastic! I have been busy dyeing a lot of fiber! I have dyed over 4 pounds of merino and about a pound of other fibers such as... Angora, Fire star, Mohair, Polwarth, Corriedale and bamboo. I am going to be getting 3 pounds of super wash so, I will need to dye that too! If you like what I have here leave a comment because I can create custom batts and roving!! Since the tree crashed and with all the work to do around the house & yard I haven't had time to do any fiber arts for myself. I have done some spinning for my friend, but now it's time to get back to my "normal"! I still have fiber that is just waiting to be used. I have several types of fiber to work with and it has to get dyed, it's my favorite part of fiber work!!! Some are in roving form and some I hand card into rolags that look very similar, like what you see with the Angora.
This is what they look like before I get busy with my dyes... I have always wanted my very own horse since I was a little girl!
I have been saving and saving to be able to buy a filly that I can train myself. I have prayed for the Lord to show me if I really should go for it, my prayer was answered and I emailed a gal that had a red roan filly. I talked to her a couple times then I went with my dad to go look at her; right when I first pet her she started licking me all over and I knew she was the one! We brought her home and she got along well with our other mare. When I got her she had really bad rain rot. I took a lot of time to get her all cleaned up; she looked great and was so happy!! She and Dixie got along great!!! I only had her for about four months when the tree crashed. When we were in the hotel I didn't feel right not having time for her so I felt led to sell her. We put up an ad and she sold within the month. She went to a good home and has friends there too!!! I think that was a lesson for me to understand that I can let go of things... This is the most organized, good looking event I have ever been to, the people are so nice, and I had such a great time and so did the family! Here are some photos of the event. The Schafer Meadows Fiber Arts Festival is a all fiber event that we will be vending at on Oct 10-12 at Garys Harbor County Fairgrounds. (And it is free admission) and their website is: https://fiberfest.wordpress.com/ October 10th Friday Noon-5pm October 11th Saturday 10am-5pm October 12th Sunday 11am- 4pm Come on over, Its fun for the whole family! What I liked at OFFF I liked the parking lot sale on Sunday ... but it was better when we vended at OFFF like SIX years ago. I was very young too, so that has been a long time-it just was so different. (I also like going to Oregon) |
